Somewhere along the way, we started confusing kindness with weakness. You see it all the time. The manager who thinks being blunt makes them a better leader. The executive who mistakes intimidation for confidence. The politician who confuses screaming for diplomacy. The person on social media who built an entire following by being spectacularly unpleasant. Apparently, being an asshole is a personality now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve never really bought into that. I’ve spent most of my career explaining things. Sometimes it’s cybersecurity. Sometimes it’s banking. Sometimes it’s engineering. Sometimes it’s helping people navigate change they didn’t ask for and probably don’t want. The subject changes, but the audience doesn’t. At the other end of every presentation, every email, every campaign, every announcement… there’s a person. Someone who’s busy. Someone who’s distracted. Someone who has their own deadlines, frustrations, and probably a meeting that should’ve been an email. Why would I make their day harder?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why I don’t think kindness is some fluffy, feel-good concept. I think it’s practical. You can tell someone their idea isn’t going to work without making them feel like an idiot. You can give honest feedback without turning it into a public execution. You can disagree without acting like you’re auditioning for cable news. None of that makes the message weaker. If anything, it makes it more likely people will actually hear it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve never looked back at a presentation and thought, “You know what this needed? Less empathy.” Clear communication isn’t just about choosing the right words. It’s about remembering there’s another human being on the receiving end. People don’t remember every sentence you wrote. They remember how your message made them feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s one of the ideas behind Narrativo. Making ideas make sense isn’t just about clarity. It’s about treating your audience like they’re worth your effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
